This striking Fang-style ceremonial spoon comes from the Fang people of Gabon and Cameroon, known for their refined sculptural tradition. Measuring 64 cm in height, the spoon displays an elegant elongated handle surmounted by a stylized Fang head with a serene, geometric face reminiscent of the classic Fang ancestor figures.
The bowl has a beautifully worn patina, showing genuine age and use, with a soft contrast between the darkened handle and lighter interior wood tones. Mounted on a custom metal stand, it presents beautifully as an abstract, almost totemic piece of sculpture.
Traditionally, spoons of this type were more than utilitarian—they were symbols of prestige and generosity, used by community leaders or gifted women during important feasts and ceremonies.
